The Sun Will Rise Tomorrow

©Keith David

Brilliant orange sun sinks behind leafless trees,

As the last flight out of town soars away on a breeze

Ceremonies have ended, what must be done is done

Families gone home as we sit watching the sun

The house feels different, world just not the same

There’s a piece missing, we still call her name

She is gone now and can no longer be heard

Echoes of grace remind of her word

The warm morning sun will rise again tomorrow

Bringing a new day and a little less sorrow

But tonight quietly thinking of all that she meant

Pain of this loss helps focus the intent

Deep breath taken, cherished memories in our heart,

Celebrate magnificent journeys we embarked

Little by little and day by day,

The sun will rise again, fading sorrow away
